Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago and more

Lots going on as we count down to our Washington, DC and NYC premieres and national broadcast!  We just had a wonderful premiere screening at the Noor Cultural Centre in Toronto, as the opening night feature of their three-day film festival called Our Home and Native Land?

We continue with another Canadian screening at the University of Toronto tonight, while the film also shows in Atlanta, Georgia and Chicago.   And apropos of our presentation here in Toronto, the Globe and Mail runs a front-page story today about a young Canadian Muslim woman getting ready for her prom.

Hamza at First Unitarian

Just back from a fantastic weekend of screenings in Pittsburgh with Pittsburgh Filmmakers, Crossing Limits, and the First Unitarian Church.  We also showed the film at the county jail and held an intense discussion session with the chaplain staff and several inmates, focusing on finding positive ways to deal with setbacks and taking personal accountability.

Next up the film will be screening in San Francisco, Atlanta, and Toronto!

One Month Into Screenings

We’re a month or so into our first sets of screenings at festivals and with
diverse communities around the world and it’s been one wonderful experience
after another for our whole team.

This past weekend the WorldBeat Center and Logan Islamic Community Center in
San Diego hosted a weekend of NEW MUSLIM COOL festivities including a
barbeque in the park, a community sneak preview screening of the film, and a
question and answer session with the film’s main character, Hamza Perez.

It looks like an amazing time was had by folks from lots of different
community backgrounds who came together for these events, and we thank the
San Diego community for sharing our film!

Donate to Expand the Film’s Reach

Help us expand NEW MUSLIM COOL’s reach!

We are working to set up a national NEW MUSLIM COOL multi-faith youth screening and discussion tour of campuses, community groups and prisons.

We’re also developing multi-media toolkits for high school and college educators and public safety personnel, with extra features and supporting materials to help a broad network of community partners present screenings and facilitated discussions.
